How Concrete Material Quantities Are Calculated for Columns and Footings
For columns or footings, total wet volume is scaled up by a wastage allowance and the standard 1.54 dry-volume factor, then split into cement, sand, and aggregate according to the chosen mix ratio.

Concrete material quantities come from the wet volume you need, expanded by a 1.54 "dry volume" factor (since dry cement, sand, and aggregate take up more space than the wet, mixed concrete), then split according to your mix ratio — a richer mix like M20 (1:1.5:3) uses noticeably more cement than a leaner mix like M15 (1:2:4) for the identical volume of concrete.
