How Decimal Hours Conversion Works
Converting between H:MM time and decimal hours works in either direction from the same input — a colon in the value signals H:MM, and its absence signals a decimal number, with minutes converting to a fraction of 60 either way.
Read guideHow the Duration Between Two Clock Times Is Calculated
Finding the time between a start and end clock time is subtraction in minutes — but when the end time is earlier than the start time, the calculation assumes an overnight span into the next day instead of producing a negative result.
Read guideWhy a Shift Duration and Its Decimal Hours Figure Always Agree
